Preguntas en inglés para la entrevista con la Host Family

Sin duda alguna éste era el post que le faltaba a este blog para estar más completo, pero más vale tarde que nunca, ¿no?

Cuando una se enfrenta a las entrevistas con las familias, sobre todo cuando tenemos las primeras entrevistas, solemos tener una lista de preguntas en inglés que podemos hacer a la Host Family. Con ella nos sentimos más seguras y nos ayuda sobre todo a salir del paso si nos bloqueamos y no sabemos qué decir.



Los niños
  • How many children do you have?
  • How many children I have to take care?
  • How is the routine of your children?
  • Are going your children to school? Pre-school? Day Care? Everyday?
  • Are they doing some activities after school?
  • Could describe me the personalities of your children? Are they shy, cheerful, lazy, sensitive...?
  • Do you want that I teach your children Spanish?
  • What kind of activities can I do with your children outside?
  • How do you discipline your children? 
  • Are you using Time Out with the kids?
  • What kind of food are eating your children?
  • Why do you want to have an Au Pair?

La familia


  • Could you describe me your family?
  • What kind of activities do you like to do in your free time? 
  • Abuelo? Abuela?
  • Are you going out on weekend or you prefer stay at home?
  • Do you have any pet? How many? Take care of the pets will be part of my responsibilities?
  • Which is your religion?
  • It is a problem if my religion is not the same?
  • How is the routine in your family?
  • Are you doing activities on the weekend? What do you usually do?
  • Do you live do trips?
  • Do you have a lot of visits in your house?
  • What kind of food do you usually eat? Do you like cook? 
  • How is your reaction when something bad happens?

  • Do I have to do the laundry? Iron?
  • Do I have to cook for the children?
  • Do I have to take care pets?
  • Do I have to drive with the kids? What kind of Auto? When and where? How far?
  • How much hours do I have to work?
  • Do you have a specific routine or it will be change every day?
  • When will be begin my day? and finish?
  • Do I have to work on weekends?
  • If I have to do extra hours
  • Do you expect that I speak Spanish with the children?
  • Could you describe what is an Au Pair for you?
  • When do you think is the best time to give me my holidays?


Lugar de residencia
  • Are you living in a city on in a suburb?
  • How is the weather in your town? 
  • Which are your favorites places in your area?
  • There is a Mall or another places to go shopping?
  • Are there any Gymnasium? Library? Cinema?
  • Are there any Colleges where I can do my credits?
  • How will I go to College?
  • Another Au Pairs are living in the near?
  • How is the public transportation in your area?
  • It is the city near? how can I go? 

Tu situación en la casa
  • Could you describe how will be my room? Where?
  • Could I see some pictures of my room?
  • Will I have TV?
  • Will I have my own bathroom or I have to share it with the kids?
  • Will I have my own phone? 
  • Can I receive visits at home? For example, another Au Pair?
  • It is ok if my family come to visit me?
  • Do you have videocamaras at home? In what parts of your houses?

Mi tiempo libre 
  • Which will be my free time?
  • What can I do in my free time?
  • Will I have curfew? When? Weeknights or Weekend?
  • For a special occasion could you do an exception?
  • Can I travel on weekends?
  • Can I join your family in my free time?
  • Can I practice any Sport?
  • Can I stay at friend on weekends?
  • Can I use your car in my free time? Do you curfew for the car?

Anterior Au Pair/Otras Au Pairs
  • Did you have another Au Pair before?
  • How was your experience?
  • Did you have any problems with an Au Pair? How did you solve it?
  • Can I talk with your current Au Pair?
  • What solved the situation the another when she had a problem with the children?
  • It will be difficult for your children when she leaves?
  • Could she help me with the transition? 
  • Will I meet her? Will she help me to learn your routine and know your children?
  • How spent she her free time there?

Sí, un montón de preguntas, sin embargo, mi consejo es que las tengáis en cuenta pero si os defendéis en inglés no os ciñáis a un guión y sed vosotras mismas porque al fin y al cabo eso es lo más importante. Y no olvidéis sonreir :)

¿Tenéis alguna pregunta más que creáis necesario añadir a la lista? ¿Vosotras también hicistéis vuestras entrevistas con una guía de preguntas?

  1. Buenas wapa!! Que bien estan todas las preguntas, una cosilla algunas de estas te las diran ellos no?? sino podemos ir introduciendolas poco a poco?? Para que no parezca muy brusco de sopeton,jeje.
    Podrias poner tu carta de presentacion a la hostfamily o una similar para ayudar a las que estamos creandonos el perfil. Gracias Wapa

      normalmente te las respondes ellos y no tiene porque ser un examen a la Host Family! pero estaría bien tenerlas para que no se te olvide nada y como digo en el post si te quedas en blanco a lo mejor te ayudan a salir del paso!

      Intentaré compartir la carta de presentación!! a saber donde la tengo!! pero la busco! ;)

  2. Yo tenía una lista de preguntas también, pero al final lo dejé todo a un lado, hahaha. Ellos solos me fueron contestando a las cosas y poquitas preguntas tuve que hacer yo...

    Seguro que a más de uno le viene bien la lista, porque ni se le habían ocurrido algunas preguntas! Muy importante el post!

      yo también tenía una lista, como he comentado en anteriores post yo le que hice fue ir rellenándola a medida que me iba diciendo cosas! y la verdad es que casi no tuve que hacer ninguna pregunta! Así que coincido contigo, es de ayuda, pero yo no acribillaría a la familia a preguntas! y muchas las harías en una segunda entrevista!

    En mi entrevista se fueron dando las cosas y las cosas que no pregunte ellos fueron respondiendo, sin emabrgo me dejaron la puerta abierta para hablarles si tenia dudas. y tu listado me ha venido de maravilla.
